- Producer Price Index (2010=100) by Sector (MSIC 2008) Year-on-year comparison showed that the Producer Price Index (PPI) for local production surged 10.2 per cent in January 2017. The highest increase was recorded by Mining index (+42.8%) followed by Agriculture, forestry & fishing (+33.4%), Manufacturing (+5.6%) and Electricity & gas supply (+3.2%). However, index for Water supply remained unchanged. [Table I] The PPI for local production inclined by 2.0 per cent in January 2017 compared to December 2016. This was due to increases in three sectors namely, Mining (+6.3%), Agriculture, forestry & fishing (+2.7%) and Manufacturing (+1.5%). Meanwhile, Water supply and Electricity & gas supply recorded decreases of 1.4 per cent and 0.1 per cent respectively.

- The PPI for local production by stage of processing (SOP) inclined by 2.0 per cent in January 2017 compared to the previous month. This inclination was due to increases in the indices for Crude materials for further processing (+3.1%), Intermediate materials, supplies and components (+2.1%) and Finished goods (+0.4%). [Table II] As compared with the same month a year ago, the PPI for local production by SOP for January 2017 increased by 10.2 per cent. This was due to increases in index for Crude materials for further processing (+39.1%), Intermediate materials, supplies and components (+6.0%) and Finished goods (+0.4%). Released By: DR.
