EMBARGO : Only to be published or disseminated at 1200 hours, Friday, 9 March 2018 DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS MALAYSIA PRESS RELEASE Special Release 2 (For Building And Structural Works) February 2018 Peninsular Malaysia The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) showed increases for almost all regions in February 2018 except region B-Perak which showed decreases as compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, the BCI in region D-Johor remained unchange as compared to January 2018. The unit price indices of building materials that showed changes as compared to the previous month are as follows:

Sabah The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Sabah recorded increases for almost all building categories except single storey steel frame (tower only) in Kota Kinabalu which showed decreases in February 2018 as compared to the previous month. The changes in the unit price indices for building materials by region in Sabah are shown in Table 2. Sarawak The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Sarawak recorded increases for almost all building categories except (R.C.) piling (without steel bars) in Kuching which decreased in February 2018 as compared to the previous month.
