No : 24834 Foreign Trade Indices, December 2016 10 February 2017 The overall export unit value index decreased by 0.5% Hrs: 10:00 As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall export unit value index decreased by 0.5% in December. In the same month, compared to December 2015, while the index for “food, beverages and tobacco” and “manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco)” decreased by 8.5% and 1.6%, respectively, the index for “crude materials (except fuels)” and “fuels” increased by 8.3% and 33.1%, respectively. The overall export unit value index decreased by 0.9% in Quarter IV 2016, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year. As compared with the year 2015, the index decreased by 4.2% in 2016. The overall import unit value index decreased by 0.7% As compared with the corresponding month of the preceding year, the overall import unit value index decreased by 0.7% in December. While the index for “crude materials (except fuels)” increased by 2.9%, the index for “food, beverages and tobacco”, “fuels” and “manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco)” decreased by 3.2%, 2.4% and 2.1%, respectively. The overall import unit value index decreased by 2.1% in Quarter IV 2016, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year. As compared with the year 2015, the index decreased by 7.8% in 2016. Foreign trade indices, December 2016 [2010=100] The overall export volume index increased by 9.4% The overall export volume index compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year increased by 9.4% in December. Compared with December 2015, while the index for “fuels” decreased by 21.5%, the index for “food, beverages and tobacco”, “crude materials (except fuels)” and “manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco)” increased by 8.2%, 15.1% and 8.9%, respectively. The overall export volume index increased by 5.7% in Quarter IV 2016, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year. As compared with the year 2015, the index increased by 3.7% in 2016. The overall import volume index increased by 3.1% In December, the overall import volume index compared to the corresponding month of the preceding year increased by 3.1%. The index for “food, beverages and tobacco”, “crude materials (except fuels)”, “fuels” and “manufactured goods (except food, beverages and tobacco)” decreased by 0.9%, 10.8%, 2.8% and 2.2%, respectively.

As compared with the year 2015, the index increased by 3.9% in 2016. Foreign trade volume indices, December 2016 [2010=100] The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index increased by 2.1% The calendar and seasonally adjusted export volume index which was 138.3 in November 2016, increased by 2.1%, to 141.2 in December 2016. The calendar adjusted export volume index which was 130.3 in December 2015, increased by 9.4%, to 142.6 in December 2016. The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index increased by 3.8% The calendar and seasonally adjusted import volume index which was 129 in November 2016, increased by 3.8%, to 133.9 in December 2016. The calendar adjusted import volume index which was 135.5 in December 2015, increased by 5.2%, to 142.5 in December 2016. Terms of trade was 110.2 in December 2016 Terms of trade is calculated by dividing the export unit value index by the import unit value index, then multiplying the result by 100. While terms of trade was 110 in December 2015, it was 110.2 in December 2016. Terms of trade increased by 1.3 points to 110.1 in Quarter IV 2016, compared to the corresponding quarter of the preceding year. Terms of trade increased by 4.2 points to 111.2 in 2016, compared to the preceding year. The next release on this subject will be on March 17, 2017.
