  2. INTRODUCTION This publication presents statistics of education services based on information gathered through the Economic Census undertaken in 2016 for reference year 2015 . Education services encompass pre-primary education, primary education, general school secondary education, technical and vocational education, college and university, sports and recreation, cultural, tuition centers, driving schools and other education PERFORMANCE OF EDUCATION SERVICES In 2015, a total of 11,722 establishments operated in education services compared to 8,178 in 2010. Within this period, there was an increase of 3,544 establishments, registering a compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) of 7.5 per cent. Value of gross output generated for education services was RM15.2 billion, registering a CAGR of 9.3 per cent. In line with value of gross output, value added for these services was RM9.4 billion. There was an increase of RM3.1 billion from 2010, with a CAGR of 8.1 per cent. In 2015, there were 134,361 persons engaged in education services with CAGR of 4.5 per cent. Out of the total number of persons engaged, 117,422 persons which contributed 87.4 per cent were paid full-time employees whereas 10,121 persons (7.5%) were working proprietors and unpaid family workers. The remaining 6,818 persons (5.1%) were paid part-time employees. Meanwhile, salaries & wages disbursed during 2015 was RM4.3 billion compared to RM3.2 billion in 2010. Between 2010 to 2015, there was an increase of RM1.1 billion, registering CAGR of 6.5 per cent. WOMEN-OWNED ESTABLISHMENTS In 2015, there were 5,308 women-owned establishments in education services compared to 3,226 establishment in 2010 with a CAGR 10.5 per cent. Value added generated was RM1.0 billion. Women-owned establishments engaged a total of 31,547 workers with salaries & wages disbursed amounted to RM0.5 billion.
