- Consumer Price Index, January 2017 No: 24781 03 February 2017 Consumer price index (CPI) increased by 2.46% in January 2017 A rise in general index was realized in CPI (2003=100) on the previous month by 2.46%, on December of the previous year by 2.46%, on same month of the previous year by 9.22% and on the twelve months moving averages basis by 7.76% in January 2017. Hrs: 10:00 The highest monthly increase was 6.37% in food and nonalcoholic beverages In January 2017, the indices rose for health 4.66%, for miscellaneous goods and services 4.25%, for transportation 3.24% and for recreation and culture 2.39%. The only monthly decrease was 6.99% in clothing and footwear In January 2017, the index declined only for clothing and footwear amongst the main groups by 6.99%. The highest annual increase was 22.90% in alcoholic beverages and tobacco Transportation 15.61%, miscellaneous goods and services 12.74%, health 12.13%, education 9.43% were the other main groups where high annual increases were realized. The highest monthly increase was 3.89% in TRC2 (Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır) The highest increases in CPI were recorded in TR81 (Zonguldak, Karabük, Bartın) region with 11.07% compared with the same month of the previous year and in TR62 (Adana, Mersin) region with 9.3% on the twelve months moving averages basis. In January 2017 within average prices of 414 items in the index, average prices of 31 items remained unchanged while average prices of 300 items increased and average prices of 83 items decreased.
