Excluded from the universe are certain transactions, such as custom-built articles, works of art, interplant and intercom any sales and goods sold at retail by producer owned retail outlets. Government purchases, except for military goods, and sales of goods are included in the universe. Transactions carried out by commercial entities are motivated by the desire to maximize profit. With an assumption of a perfectly competitive model, in the short run, firms cannot change the level of input and the technology. In addition, prices are determined by market condition, hence. Profit maximizing firm adjusts output to the given prices so long as additional revenue is greater than additional cost (MR > MC). The resulting changes from the action of firms constitute the basis of prices index measurement. In these sense, a Wholesale price index becomes an output prices index and measures the percentage change in revenue received by the Transactions carried out by commercial entities are motivated by the desire to maximize profit. In the revised WPI, the decided to choose not less than 160 items from among ten SITC sections. There were some minor modifications to eliminate defenserelated items and their values from the total. The General Authority for Statistics distributed the samples among section based on the relative weight of each section and division. When the distribution fell short of two item (see General Authority for Statistics table 5 for descriptions of these items and relative weights), the chose a minimum of two items. In each section, the General Authority for Statistics selected division based on the value of divisions in the section. The General Authority for Statistics Ten selected them item samples based upon the item’s relative value in the division. The items selected were further disaggregated in the field after conferring with the merchants. The weight for the wholesale price index uses the import value of each item, division and section with adjustments for local production and defense related items.

Highlights of Wholesale Price Index Technical Notes JULY 2016 ‫الرقم القياسي ألسعار الجملة‬ Highlights of Wholesale Price Index Movement (December 2016) 1- Monthly Change: In December 2016, the Wholesale Price Index recorded a decrease of (159.9) by 0.5 % compared to the month of November 2016, in which it registered (160.7) .
