EMBARGO : Only to be published or disseminated at 1200 hours, Tuesday, 10 April 2018 DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS MALAYSIA PRESS RELEASE Special Release 2 (For Building And Structural Works) March 2018 Peninsular Malaysia The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) showed increases for almost all regions in March 2018 except region C-Central which showed decreases as compared to the previous month. Meanwhile, the BCI in region D-Johor remained unchanged as compared to February 2018. The unit price indices of building materials that showed changes as compared to the previous month are as follows:

Sabah The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Sabah showed increases for almost all building categories in March 2018 except the BCI (without steel bars) in Sandakan which was unchanged as compared to the previous month. The changes in the unit price indices for building materials by region in Sabah are shown in Table 2. Sarawak The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Kuching and Miri recorded increases for almost all building categories in March 2018. Meanwhile, the BCI in Sibu remained unchanged as compared to the previous month.
