3. Producer Price Index in Iran Tir 1396 (1390 = 100) The Producer Price Index (PPI) went up 1.1 percent in Tir 1396 following an increase of 0.4 percent in Khordad 1396. The index level of 239.7 was 8.9 percent higher than in Tir 1395. For the first 4 months of 1396, the PPI edged up 8.9 percent, compared to the similar period in 1395. This index moved up 7.0 percent for the 12 months ended in Tir 1396. Agriculture, forestry and fishing: In Tir, a 1.1-percent rise in the prices of this group can be traced to the growths in the indices for barely, peas, onions, hay, apples, cherries, animal production and Persian Gulf fish. In contrast, prices for corn, lentil, melons, garlic, tomatoes, leaf vegetables, grapes, stone fruits and strawberries went down. Manufacturing: The Manufacturing group index increased 0.7 percent, which was mostly due to the growths in the indices for slaughter poultry, canned fish, dry pistachios, tomato paste, alcohol-free beer, carbonated drink, methanol, sulphur, exported polystyrene, foundry sand, manufacture of basic iron and steel, copper products, burrow, industrial electromotor, copper wire, outlet and socket, car cylinder, car dashboard, and syringe and needle. On the contrary, prices for dry tea, manufacture of carpets and rugs, jet propulsion fuel 1
4. (type 4), benzene, butane, propane, urea, exported ammonia, polypropylene, lead concentrate and rolling mill machinery declined. Services: Increases in the indices of urban bus trip fare, subway fare, taxi fare, freight by truck, inns accommodation cost, movie ticket and swimming instruction mainly led to 1.6 percent rise in the services group. 2
