  3. Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers in Iran Farvardin 1395 (1390=100) The Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased 0.5 percent in Farvardin 13951. The index level of 235.9 was 7.4 percent higher than in Farvardin 1394. The inflation rate has advanced 11.2 percent over the last twelve months. The food and beverages index increased 1.1 percent in Farvardin, largely due to the increases in the indices for fresh fruits by 7.8 percent, tomato 20.7 percent, rice (except imported rice) 4.3 percent, eggplant 25.1 percent, root vegetables (except onion) 15.5 percent, milk products 1.0 percent, live stock meat 0.4 percent, sugar, sugar lump, jam, honey, chocolate and confectionary 0.7 percent, beverages 0.6 percent, fish (except cultured fish) 1.4 percent, pulses 0.8 percent, biscuit, cake and cookies 0.5 percent, oils and fats 0.2 percent, salt, spices, sauces, condiments and food products 0.5 percent and vegetable products 0.2 percent. Within the food and beverages group, decreases in the indices for onion by 44.1 percent, poultry 5.2 percent, eggs 7.4 percent, cucumber 4.9 percent, leafy green vegetables 1.5 percent, imported rice 0.2 percent, and cultured fish 0.9 percent were also considerable in this month. The index for tobacco turned up 0.3 percent in Farvardin, reflecting 0.4 percent increase in the index for imported cigarettes. The clothing and footwear index increased 0.3 percent, mostly as a result of the increases in the indices for ready to wear clothing by 0.2 percent, footwear 0.5 percent, tailoring, cleaning and laundering wage 1.1 percent, and clothing materials 0.1 percent. During this month, the housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels index went up 0.5 percent which was attributed to the advances of the indices for "rental equivalence of owner occupied houses" and "rent of residential houses" each by 0.5 percent, and maintenance and repair services of the dwelling 1.1 percent. 1 The current Iranian year begins from March 20, 2016. 1

The furnishings , household equipment and routine household maintenance index rose 0.3 percent, largely due to the increases in the indices for "household appliances" and "glassware, tableware and household utensils" each by 0.4 percent, goods and services for routine household maintenance 0.3 percent, household textiles 0.5 percent, and carpets 0.1 percent. Within this group, decrease in the index for tools and equipment for house by 0.2 percent was also considerable in this month. The index for health increased 0.3 percent, mostly as a result of the increases in the indices for hospital services by 0.4 percent, "medical, paramedical and dental services" and "medical products, appliances and equipment" each 0.2 percent. The transport index increased 0.1 percent in Farvardin that was principally attributed to the increases in the indices for passenger transport by road by 0.9 percent, and operation of personal transport equipment 0.1 percent. Within this group, decrease in the index for passenger transport by road (intercity) by 0.9 percent was also considerable in this month. The index for communication was unchanged in Farvardin. The recreation and culture index turned down 3.0 percent, largely due to the decreases in the indices for package holidays by 12.6 percent, and audio-visual, photographic and information processing equipment 0.2 percent. Within this group, increases in the indices for recreation and cultural services by 1.6 percent, other recreational items and equipment 0.3 percent, and stationery 0.2 percent were also considerable in this month. The education index advanced 0.1 percent over this month, mostly as a result of the increase in the index for supplementary courses tuition fees by 0.1 percent. The index for restaurants and hotels rose 1.1 percent, mainly due to the advances in the indices for food away from home by 1.1 percent, accommodation services 3.9 percent, and catering services 0.6 percent. The miscellaneous goods and services index increased 0.9 percent in this month. Increases in the indices for third party insurance commission by 15.0 percent, gold smith wage 2.2 percent, funeral expenses 4.9 percent, personal care 0.2 percent, and personal effects 0.1 percent were the major reasons for this rise. 2
