KEMENTERIAN KOORDINATOR BIDANG PEREKONOMIAN REPUBLIK INDONESIA Press Release Vice President Kalla Officially Launches the Task Force for the Acceleration and Effective Implementation of Economic Policy Jakarta , 28 June, 2016 Since launching its economic deregulation program on September 9, 2015, the Government of Indonesia has launched 12 policy packages to streamline regulations and improve economic competitiveness. To ensure timely and effective implementation of the issued and the forth coming policy packages, the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Mr. Jusuf Kalla, today officially launched the special Task Force for the Acceleration and Effective Implementation of Economic Policy, at the office of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy. This Task Force is chaired by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Darmin Nasution, accompanied by 3 vice-chairs, namely the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, and the Vice President’s Coordinator for Expert Staffs Sofyan Wanandi. The newly formed Task Force consists of 4 Working Groups. Working Group I is responsible for Public Communication and Dissemination of the policy packages, headed by Minister of Trade Thomas Trikasih Lembong, with Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Chairman Franky Sibarani as vice-head. Working Group II is responsible for the Acceleration and Completion of Regulations, headed by Presidential Chief of Staff Teten Masduki, with State Secretary Pratikno as vice-head. Meanwhile, Working Group III will undertake Evaluation and Impact Analysis on the economic policy packages, and is headed by Bank Indonesia Senior Deputy Governor Mirza Adityaswara, with the Senior Economist RadenPardede serving as vice-head. Lastly, Working Group IV will be responsible for the Handling and Resolution of Cases,
  2. headed by Minister for Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly , with Coordinating Ministry for Politics, Law and Security Special Staff Purbaya Yudi Sadewaserving as vice-head. All Working Groups will be additionally backed up by a Support Unit at the office of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy. This Support Unit is headed by the Economy Coordinating Ministry’s Secretary General Lukita Dinarsyah Tuwo with Deputy V for Industry and Trade Edy Putra Irawady serving as the Support Unit’s vice-head. “This Task Force will enhance the effective implementation of all the economic policy packages which have been and which will be issued by the Government of Indonesia, including the resolution of obstacles in the field. Also included among our objectives is of course effective dissemination of relevant information to stakeholders and investors, both domestically as well as internationally. Such constituencies include industry associations, the general public, and also elements of our government itself within the central government, as well as the regional governments,” explained Task Force Chair Darmin Nasution. This Task Force, established via Economy Coordinating Minister Decree No. 80/2016, has already formulated various work programs within each Working Group. “What we want to emphasize with these economic policy packages, is that the Government of Indonesia is really serious about economic reform. We must and will undertake farreaching modernization of our economy,” added Working Group I Head Thomas Lembong.
