LCCI, in partnership with the UK-ASEAN Business Council (UKABC) and the British Chamber of Commerce Indonesia (BritCham), is taking a select group of companies interested in exploring the business opportunities in Indonesia’s three largest cities. WHY INDONESIA? As the world’s fourth most populous country with 255 million people, including the fastest growing middle class with three – five million more Indonesians becoming affluent each year. Indonesia is ASEAN’s powerhouse economy. Economic growth was 5.04% in Q4 2015, it is politically sound; it is the only permanent ASEAN member of the G20 and well positioned to influence global and regional initiatives. During the economic downturn, Indonesia’s economy was among the most resilient in the world due to a number of factors, including strong domestic demand, rich natural resources and a stable currency. Recent upgrades in bond ratings have made Indonesia an economy to watch in the coming decade. In partnership with: Many opportunities exist for UK business across a range of sectors, as observed by the Prime Minister, David Cameron, on his visit to Indonesia in 2015. “I want to link Britain up to the fastest growing parts of the world. Well, Indonesia is one of those countries. One of the most populated countries in the world, one of the fastest growing countries in the world. It will be a top ten economy and there are huge opportunities for British business and British investment.” Following the Prime Minister’s visit to Indonesia last year, the President of Indonesia Joko Widodo and a high-level delegation will be visiting the UK in April. The President will be addressing the UK-Indonesian Business Forum on Wednesday 20 April 2016. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the market ahead of this trade mission. Prices are quote- based and all companies must commission this service to qualify for the mission. TRAVEL A competitive travel package will be available through our appointed travel agent. This will include flights, transfers and hotels on a bed and breakfast basis. ELIGIBILITY To participate in this trade mission, your business must be selling or marketing a British product or service from the sectors mentioned above. Your business must already be established, trading for more than a year with an annual turnover of £500,000 or more, and be registered with Companies House. Companies must also commission the Business Support Service delivered by BritCham Indonesia. All applications will be subject to approval. UK–ASEAN Business Council (UKABC) The UKABC was created out of UK Trade & Investment’s 2011 Strategy ‘Britain Open for Business’ and launched by Dr Vince Cable in November 2011. The underlying purpose of the UKABC is to facilitate a step change in the level of trade between the UK and South East Asia. With a particular focus on SMEs, the UKABC runs a programme of awareness-raising outreach activity aimed at improving understanding of business opportunities in the ASEAN region.
