As a result, the Fund’s NAV was down by 3.95% on a 1 month basis and underperformed the benchmark during the period under review driven by weakness in share price of export related counters and other local stocks. The negative sentiment post of the Federal Reserve announcement of multiple rate hikes had sustained into the month of February. Newly appointed Federal Reserve Chairman, Jerome Powell foresees multiple rate hikes are in line with the strong US economic growth, notwithstanding financial volatility that had arisen, should not hamper US economic growth. Technically, the multiple rate hike approach are in-line with the Fund’s which remains to overweight on export related sectors. As a result, the Fund will continue to be invested at 98% level underpinned by the hawkish US Federal Reserve stance for 2018.
