BANGLADESH BANK PRESS RELEASE (Import LCs opening and settlement during July-November, 2016 & July-November, 2015) The total value of import LCs opened by Authorized Dealer banks during July-Nov, 2016 was US$ 18693.54 million which was 6.95% higher than that of the same period of the previous year (US$ 17479.53 million). Value of LCs settled during July-Nov, 2016 totaled was US$19023.34 million which was also 14.58% higher than that of the same period of the previous year (US$ 16602.30 million). The table below shows the significant increases in LCs opening of wheat 32.40%, pulses(all sorts) 67.53%, sugar 59.02%, fresh & dry fruits 22.72%, milk food 35.00%, drugs & medicines 14.02% and decreases in rice 90.70%, onion 39.00%, edible oil 12.64% which are the major components of consumer goods. Significant increase noticed in opening of LCs in yarn, pharmacuticals raw materials, cement, Clinker & Lime Stone & Paper & Paper board which was recorded a growth of 7.56 %, 19.61% , 19.22 %, 17.74% & 15.12% respectively during the period under review.
