1. PRESS RELEASE AUTORITI MONETARI BRUNEI DARUSSALAM TO CONDUCT TELEPHONE SURVEY ON FINANCIAL INCLUSION 1 . Autoriti Monetari Brunei Darussalam (AMBD) would like to inform the public that AMBD will be conducting a telephone survey starting from Monday, 5th February 2018 and is expected to run for four weeks. 2. The survey is conducted as part of Brunei Darussalam’s participation in an ASEAN-wide initiative to measure the level of financial inclusion, including individuals’ behaviour in saving and borrowing money, making payments, and managing financial risks. 3. This survey will be carried out by AMBD staff, who will identify themselves at the start of the survey and the survey aims to sample 700 respondents who will be selected at random. AMBD will only be calling land lines for the survey, and respondents can expect general questions regarding topics, such as bank account ownership, debit/credit card ownership, and spending, saving and borrowing behaviour. AMBD will NOT be asking for personal information, such as bank account numbers or debit/credit card details. Members of the public may access the full survey from AMBD’s website at www.ambd.gov.bn to verify the questions that will be asked. 4. The data collected from the study will allow policymakers to monitor the level of financial inclusion in Brunei Darussalam over time, and to aid in policy formulation, addressing areas of concern. Individual responses will be kept confidential. 5. AMBD would greatly appreciate the public’s kind cooperation to participate in this survey, which should take not more than 30 minutes. Each respondent who successfully completes the survey will be rewarded. 6. For enquiries and information regarding the survey, members of the public may contact AMBD at 2380007 or 2233371.
