EMBARGO : Only to be published or disseminated at 1200 hours, 20 December 2016 DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS MALAYSIA PRESS RELEASE SUPPLY AND UTILIZATION ACCOUNTS SELECTED AGRICULTURAL COMMODITIES, MALAYSIA 2011-2015 17 from 33 selected agricultural commodities recorded self-sufficiency ratio (SSR) more than 100 per cent in 2015 Selected agricultural commodities are divided into three categories namely selected crops, (fruits and vegetables), selected livestock and selected fisheries. In 2015, a total of 33 commodities were covered and 17 of them recorded self-sufficiency ratio (SSR) more than 100 per cent. Selected crops Fruits Eight of the thirteen selected fruits recorded SSR more than 100 per cent. Papaya recorded the highest SSR of 165.4 per cent followed by watermelon (158.8%) and starfruit (151.5%). Per capita consumption (PCC) of coconut was the highest (17.3 kilogrammes per year) followed by durian (11.2 kilogrammes per year) and pineapple (10.6 kilogrammes per year). Vegetables Six selected vegetables recorded SSR more than 100 per cent namely spinach, lady’s finger, long bean, brinjal, cucumber and tomato. PCC of round cabbage was the highest (10.1 kilogrammes per year) followed by mustard (6.9 kilogrammes per year), tomato (3.6 kilogrammes per year) and cucumber (3.1 kilogrammes per year). Selected livestock SSR of chicken/duck egg (112.3%) was the highest followed by poultry meat (98.5%) and pork (93.7%) while mutton recorded the lowest SSR of 11.4 per cent. Poultry meat recorded the highest PCC of 50.1 kilogrammes per year followed by chicken/duck egg (20.5 kilogrammes per year) and pork (18.2 kilogrammes per year). Selected fisheries Two of the five selected fisheries namely cuttlefish and shrimp recorded SSR more than 100 per cent. Cuttlefish recorded the highest SSR (105.6%) while crab was the lowest (75.2%) compared to other selected fisheries. PCC of mackerel was the highest PCC among other selected fisheries 6.9 kilogrammes per year followed by shrimp (4.6 kilogrammes per year) and tuna (2.6 kilogrammes per year). Crabs recorded the lowest PCC at 0.5 kilogrammes per year.
