2. HIGHLIGHT Sales value of Distributive Trade business stood at RM87 .1 billion in July 2016, registering 5.2 per cent growth as compared to the corresponding period in 2015. The sales value consists of Wholesale Trade (RM42.0 billion), Retail Trade (RM33.6 billion) and Motor Vehicles (RM11.5 billion) businesses. This increase was driven by Retail and Wholesale Trade businesses with 9.4 per cent and 4.5 per cent respectively. Month on month, sales value of this business went down to -2.3 per cent. The index of Distributive Trade which measures the volume changes increased by 5.8 per cent in July 2016 as compared with July 2015. The growth was led by Retail Trade (8.3%) and Wholesale Trade (7.4%). The seasonally adjusted Index of Distributive Trade declined to -4.2 per cent as compared to the preceding month.
