2. HIGHLIGHTS Volume index of Wholesale & Retail Trade rose 7.3 per cent to 158.8 points in November 2017 as compared to November 2016. The growth was supported by the increase in Retail Trade (8.4%) and Wholesale Trade (8.0%). Seasonally adjusted volume index of Wholesale & Retail Trade increased by 0.4 per cent as compared to the preceding month. Sales value of Wholesale & Retail Trade stood at RM97.7 billion (9.0%) in November 2017 as compared to the corresponding period in 2016. The sales value consists of Wholesale Trade (RM47.7 billion), Retail Trade (RM38.1 billion) and Motor Vehicles (RM12.0 billion) businesses. The positive growth was contributed by Retail Trade (10.5%) and Wholesale Trade (9.6%) businesses. Wholesale Trade Business Volume index of Wholesale Trade grew 8.0 per cent to 169.1 points in November 2017 as compared to November 2016. Monthon-month basis, this volume index (seasonally adjusted) recorded negative growth 0.9 per cent as against the previous month. Sales value of Wholesale Trade business registered 9.6 per cent growth to RM47.7 billion as compared to the corresponding month of the previous year. Month-on-month basis, this business registered negative growth 1.4 per cent. Retail Trade Business Volume index of Retail Trade rose 8.4 per cent to 162.0 points in November 2017 as compared to the same month of previous year. Compared to October 2017, seasonally adjusted volume index of Retail Trade increased by 1.1 per cent. Retail Trade business recorded an increase in sales value to RM38.1 billion or 10.5 per cent as compared to last year. Month-onmonth, sales value of this business increased 0.8 per cent.
3. Motor Vehicles Business Year-on-year , volume index of Motor Vehicles recorded positive growth 1.0 per cent to 124.5 points in November 2017. Seasonally adjusted volume index of Motor Vehicles increased 2.4 per cent in November 2017 as against October 2017. For this month, sales value of Motor Vehicles business increased 2.5 per cent to RM12.0 billion as compared to the same month of the preceding year. Sales value of Motor Vehicles business increased 1.4 per cent as compared to the previous month.
