EMBARGO : Only to be published or disseminated at 1200 hours, 10 October 2016 DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS MALAYSIA PRESS RELEASE Special Release 2 (For Building And Structural Works) September 2016 Peninsular Malaysia The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) by category of building in all regions showed increases in September 2016 except for (R.C.) piling building category in region B-Perak (-0.1%) and F-Eastern (-0.2%) compared to the previous month. The unit price index of building materials that showed changes in September 2016 compared to the previous month are as follows:

Sabah The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in all regions in Sabah recorded increases for several categories of buildings in September 2016, except for single storey steel frame (building) (-0.1%) and single storey steel frame (tower only) (-0.3%) in Kota Kinabalu which showed decreases as compared to August 2016. Changes in unit price index for building materials by region in Sabah are as follows: Sarawak The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Kuching and Miri showed decreases for several categories of buildings in September 2016. In contrast, the BCI in Sibu recorded increases in almost all categories of buildings as compared to August 2016.
