- EMBARGO : Only to be published or disseminated at 1200 hours, Friday, 10 March 2017 DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS MALAYSIA PRESS RELEASE Special Release 2 (For Building And Structural Works) February 2017 The Building Material Cost Index (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Peninsular Malaysia and Sarawak increased for almost all categories of buildings Peninsular Malaysia The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) for almost all categories of building in all regions showed increases in February 2017. Meanwhile, the BCI for timber piling building category remained unchanged as compared to January 2017. The unit price indices of building materials that showed changes (increase/decrease) in February 2017 as compared to the previous month are as follows:
- Sabah The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars) in Kota Kinabalu recorded increases for single storey steel frame (building) and single storey steel frame (tower only) in February 2017. While, the BCI in Sandakan and Tawau remained unchanged as compared to the previous month. The BCI (with steel bars) in Kota Kinabalu and Tawau recorded increases for almost all categories of building in February 2017 as compared to the previous month. While, the BCI in Sandakan remained unchanged as compared to January 2017. The changes in the unit price indices for building materials by region in Sabah are as follows: Sarawak The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Sarawak showed increases for all categories of buildings in February 2017 except for (R.C.) piling in Miri which remained unchanged as compared to the previous month. The changes in the unit price indices for building materials by region in Sarawak are as follows:
