- State of Kuwait Central Statistical Bureau News Release Foreign Trade Statistics (Fourth Quarter) October-December 2017 20/02/2018 Exports increased 12.8% in 2017 October-December According to the provisional foreign trade statistics results, in October-December 2017; exports were 4,636 Million KD with a 12.8% increase and imports were 2,698 Million KD with a 12.1% increase compared with October-December 2016. In October-December 2017, balance of trade was 1,938 Million KD while it was 1,701 Million KD in October-December 2016 with a 13.9% increase. In the same period, volume of trade increased 12.6% compared with the fourth quarter of 2016. Trade of volume was 7,334 Million KD in October-December 2017 while it was 6,515 Million KD in October-December 2016. Coverage rate was 171.8% in October-December 2017, while it was 170.7% in October-December 2016. In the fourth quarter of 2017, Coverage rate (excluding oil) was 15.5% while it was 15.9% in the third quarter of 2016. - State of Kuwait Central Statistical Bureau News Release Foreign Trade Statistics (Fourth Quarter) October-December 2017 20/02/2018 Mineral fuels and oil were forefront in exports according to chapters For October-December 2017, the top categories for exports were “Mineral fuels and oils” (4,218 Million KD) with share of 91% and then “Organic chemicals” (88.9 Million KD) 1.9%, “Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling-stock, parts thereof” (65.4 Million KD) 1.4%. Machinery and Mechanical Appliances; Parts Thereof were forefront in imports At the same period, “Machinery and Mechanical Appliances; Parts Thereof” has by far the highest value imported at (407.7 Million KD) with share of 15.1% and then, “Electrical Machinery and Equipment and Parts Thereof; Sound Recorders and Reproducers, Television Image and Sound Recorders and Reproducers, and Parts and Accessories of Such Articles ” (349.8 Million KD) 13%, “Vehicles other than railway or tramway rolling-stock, parts thereof” (306.4 Million KD) 11.4%. The top country for Kuwait’s imports was People's Republic of China (452.4 Million KD), follo United States of America (279.5 Million KD), UAE (223.5 Million KD), and Germany (155.5 Million KD) Exports to GCC countries increased by 38.9% As compared with the same quarter of the previous year, exports to the GCC countries were 177 Million KD, while it was 127.4 Million KD, and increased by 38.9%. The share of the GCC countries was 3.8% October-December 2017 while it was also 3.1% in October-December 2016. The share of Capital goods in imports was 28.1% During the same period, 28.1% of imports products were Capital goods. As compared with the same period of the previous year; “Industrial supplies not elsewhere specified” ,” Food and beverages” and “Consumer goods” increased by 9.6%, 13.4% and 10.1% respectively.
