3. Producer Price Index in Iran Mehr 1396 (1390 = 100) The Producer Price Index (PPI) went up 1.3 percent in Mehr 1396 following an increase of 1.4 percent in Shahrivar 1396. The index level of 250.6 was 11.6 percent higher than in Mehr 1395. For the first 7 months of 1396, the PPI edged up 9.7 percent, compared to the similar period in 1395. This index moved up 8.9 percent for the 12 months ended in Mehr 1396. Agriculture, forestry and fishing: In Mehr, a 1.3-percent increase in the prices of this group can be traced to the rises in the indices for pulses, eggplant, potatoes, tomatoes, cotton, hay, grapes, citrus fruits, growing of pome and stone fruits, kiwifruit, olive, cow's and buffalo's milk and aquaculture. In contrast, prices for onions, leaf vegetables, fresh nuts, raising of poultry and Persian Gulf fish went down. Manufacturing: The Manufacturing group index moved up 1.4 percent, which was mostly due to the rise in the indices for pasteurized milk, liquid raw whey, livestock and poultry feed, books, jet propulsion fuel (type 4), raffinate, manufacture of basic chemicals, manufacture of fertilizers and nitrogen compounds, manufacture of plastics and synthetic rubber in primary forms, respiratory medicines, antineoplastics, disposable wares, plastic pipe and fittings, refractory brick, angle iron, lead and zinc products, transformer, 1
4. fluorescent induction lamp , rice cooker and trailer. On the contrary, prices for slaughter poultry, tire cord, cement pipe, round bar, iron slab, copper concentrate and gas regulator declined. Services: Increases in the indices of freight by truck, private school tuition fees, and funeral and related activities mainly led to 1.3 percent rise in the services group. 2
