3. Export Price Index in Iran Tir 1396 (1390 = 100) The Export Price Index (XPI) decreased 0.1 percent in Tir 1396 following a 0.6 percent decline in Khordad 1396. The index level of 239.5 was 13.5 percent higher than in Tir 1395. During the first four months of the current Iranian year, the XPI rose 14.3 percent compared to the similar period in 1395. The XPI has advanced 6.1 percent over the past twelve months. In Tir, the animal products group index was unchanged. The vegetable products group index and the animal or vegetable fats and oils group index rose 0.8 percent and 0.6 percent, respectively, over this month. The prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco group index went up 1.1 percent, largely due to the increase in the price for biscuit and wafer. The mineral products group index had no change in this month. The products of the chemical or allied industries group index went down 4.1 percent. The mentioned decline was led by decreases in the prices for styrene and ammonia. In the mentioned group, the price for methanol increased. Mostly as a result of increasing in the price for low density polyethylene, the plastics and articles thereof, rubber and articles thereof group index moved up 1.0 percent. In this group, the decline in the price for high density polyethylene was also considerable.  The index is computed on the Iranian Rial basis. In this month, the exchange rates of Dollar and Euro increased 1.1 percent and 3.3 percent, respectively. 1
4. In Tir , The skins and leather and articles thereof group index and the wood and articles of wood group index fell 0.5 percent and 2.2 percent, respectively. The 1.7 percent increase in the textiles and textile articles group index was mainly due to the rise in the price for hand-woven carpet. During this month, the footwear group index moved up 1.2 percent. The articles of stone group index went down 0.6 percent. The base metals and articles of base metal group index went up 2.4 percent. Increases in the prices for zinc ingot, cathode copper, lead ingot, hot coil iron and galvanized pipe were the major reasons for this advance, while the price for aluminium ingot decreased. The machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment group index increased 0.9 percent over this month. The 8.7 percent rise, in the vehicles and associated transport equipment group index was mostly attributed to the increases in the prices for tractor and car radiator. 2
