Tahsiniyat

Definition of "Tahsiniyat"

Lit: Decorations. Tech: Conceived in a hierarchy, refer to those things which are at a tertiary level, after basic necessities (daruriyat – primary level), and conveniences (hajiyat – the secondary level). The tahsiniyat are a source of comfort, facility and ease in life. The shari‘ah considers them as desirable but in case of trade-off between the tahsiniyat and hajiyat, the former will be foregone.
