SUMMARY OF INFLATION RATES CPI Change Inflation Rate December, 2016 over November, 2016 (Previous month) -0.68% Inflation Rate December, 2016 over December, 2015 (Corresponding month) 3.70% Average Inflation Rate July-December (2016-17) over July-December (2015-16) 3.88% 2. Detail Description: Pakistan Bureau of Statistics collects the retail and the wholesale prices and computes the Consumer Price Index (CPI), Wholesale Price Index (WPI) on monthly basis and Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) on weekly basis. In December, 2016 the CPI decreased by 0.68%, WPI decreased by 0.14% while SPI decreased by 0.78% respectively. Decreased: Potatoes (19.88%), Fresh Vegetables (19.8%), Sugar (13.44%), Chicken (9.94%), Gur (4.74%), Pulse Mash (4.34%), Tomatoes (2.97%), Onion (2.7%), Pulse Masoor (2.24%) and Pulse Moong ( 2.11%).

Year-on-Year : Top few commodities which varied from previous year i.e. December 2015 are given below:Increased: Gram Whole (43.75%), Pulse Gram (37.52%), Besan (33.08%), Eggs (23.73%), Fresh Vegetables (22.04%), Potatoes (19.41%), Cigarettes (11.6%), Sugar (11.54%), Education (11.51%), Water Supply (9.89%), Medical Equipments (9.72%), Fresh Fruits (9.5%), Doctor (MBBS) Clinic Fee (8.9%), Drugs & Medicines (8.83%), and Tailoring (7.82%). Decreased: Onion (41.88%), Motor Fuel (9.19%), Kerosene Oil (8.11%), Chicken (6.17%), Motor Vehicle Accessories (5.90%), Tomatoes (5.72%) and Pulse Moong (5.12%). Core inflation of CPI i. Trimmed Core Inflation During the month of December, 2016 over December, 2015, the trimmed core inflation has been observed as 3.7% while it was 2.7% during December, 2015 over December, 2014. ii. Non-Food & Non-Energy Core Inflation During the month of December, 2016 over December, 2015, the Non-food & Non-energy core inflation has been observed as 5.2% while it was 4.1% during December, 2015 over December, 2014.
