Detail Description: Pakistan Bureau of Statistics collects the retail and the wholesale prices and computes the Consumer Price Index (CPI), Wholesale Price Index (WPI) on monthly basis and Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) on weekly basis. In December, 2017 the CPI decreased by 0.10%, WPI increased by 0.36% while SPI decreased by 0.67% respectively. Decreased: Tomatoes (30.16%), Onion (21.91%), Pulse Mash (3.83%), Pulse Moong (3.23%), Spinach (3.16%), Pulse Masoor (3.08%), Ginger (2.86%), Eggs (2.73%), Pulse Gram (1.66%) and Gram Whole (.91%). Year-on-Year: Increased: Top few items which varied from previous year i.e. Nov. 2016 are given below:- Onion (130.35%), Tomatoes (49.35%), Govt. University Fee (37.72%), Govt. Engineering College Fee (32.47%), Govt. College Fee (23.90%), Potatoes (21.52%), Chicken (21.21%), Gas Cylinder (17.04%), Petrol (14.94%), Iron Bar (14.16%), Diesel (12.80%) and Kerosene Oil (13.51%). Decreased: Garlic (45.46%), Pulse Gram (28.85%), Pulse Mash (27.41%), Gram Whole (21.71%), Pulse Moong (21.19%), Pulse Masoor (20.77%), Besan (20.25%), Sugar (13.45%), Cement (1.28%) and Wheat (1.16%).

Decreased: Pulse Mash (26.48%), Pulse Gram (22.59%), Sugar (18.93%), Pulse Moong (18.88%), Pulse Masoor (18.88%), Cigarettes (16.78%), Besan (15.63%) and Gur (8.12%). 1. Core inflation of CPI i. Trimmed Core Inflation During the month of December, 2017 over November, 2016, the trimmed core inflation has been observed as 4.7% while it was 3.7% during December, 2016. ii. Non-Food & Non-Energy Core Inflation During the month of December, 2017 over November, 2016, the Non-food & Non-energy core inflation has been observed as 5.5% while it was 5.2% during December, 2016.
