  1. MENA Morning Report Monday , July 03, 2017 Overview Regional Markets: MENA markets opened the week on a mixed note as investors are coming off from a long week of Eid holidays and ascertaining the situation within the region, especially the geopolitical environment. Oil prices have also rebounded from the lows seen in the previous week, which should also act as support for the regional markets in next few sessions. For the regional markets, four out of the eight indexes closed in green, while three ended on a negative note and one remained unchanged for the day. Kuwait and Qatar were the worst performers as they were down by 2.2% and 2.3% respectively for the day. Qatar continues the selling pressure as investors prefer to exit and enter other regional markets with reasonably higher returns. The index has lost more than 10% since the start of the diplomatic rifts with the other Arab states, which could intensify further if Qatar fails to agree to the demands of the Arab states or vice versa. Kuwait witnessed selling pressure on the back of thin trade post the Eid holidays, however the index continues to remain the best performing in the region for the year. Saudi Arabia continues the upside trend as it was up by 0.8% for the day, extending the annual gains to 3.8%. UAE markets closed on a mixed note as Dubai was down by 0.3%, while Abu Dhabi was up by 0.4% for the day. Egypt closed higher by 0.7% for the day, which was supported by buying interest from investors. Bahrain closed lower by 0.7%, while Oman was flat for the day. International Markets: At the time of writing this report, Asian markets have opened on a slightly positive note as Nikkei and Hang Seng are up by 0.1% and 0.01% respectively, while Shanghai is down by 0.2%.
