- MENA Morning Report Monday , November 21, 2016 Overview Regional Markets: MENA markets started the week on a mixed note, in line with the subdued sentiments seen in the global markets. Equity markets are jumping onto different events and hoping for positive developments, which are basically holding the markets from a downward slide. Hence, investors should be prudent and buy into beaten down fundamentally strong companies. Further, oil prices inching above the $46 mark again on the back of hopes of OPEC cut production with the help of its members should also marginally ease funding pressures on regional authorities. For the day, Abu Dhabi was the worst performing index among the regional peers after the leading banks denied any rumor talks which were ushered in the markets in the previous week. Saudi Arabia was down by 0.9% for the day, which could be attributed to profit booking, especially the banking sector stocks after sharp rise in the past two to three weeks. Egypt was up by 0.5% for the day, reaching an eight year high on the back of fundamental improvement and hopes of further reforms to stimulate economic activity and restore investor confidence. Dubai closed marginally lower by 0.2% for the day, which was mainly dragged lower by 0.3% decline in Emaar Properties. Qatar closed up marginally by 0.1% for the day, however it continues to remain the worst performing index among the regional peers for the year 2016. Oman and Bahrain were up by 0.5% and 0.1% respectively, while Kuwait was down by 0.1% for the day. International Markets: At the time of writing this report, Asian markets have opened on a positive note as Hang Seng, Nikkei and Shanghai were all u p by 0.3%, 0.6% and 0.9% respectively.
