- MENA Morning Report Wednesday , December 13, 2017 Overview Regional Markets: The trading activity within the MENA markets was positive as the region continues to extend the winning streak during the week. Regional markets have witnessed some buying interest in the past couple of sessions, which could be on the back of rise in oil prices coupled with improved economic outlook for the year 2018. For the regional markets, seven out of the eight indexes ended in green, while Bahrain was the only index to close marginally lower for the day. UAE markets have extended their winning streak for the third consecutive session as Dubai and Abu Dhabi were both up by 1.2% and 0.6% respectively for the day. The DFM has gained 1.8% during the week, which has helped the index in recovering the early losses during the month to turn positive. Abu Dhabi witnessed stronger buying interest which helped in pushing the index higher by 2.5% during the week, with special traction in the index’s heavyweights. Saudi Arabia also closed on a positive note as it was up by 0.3% for the day, maintaining the upbeat sentiments during the week and the month. Qatar closed higher by 1.4% for the day, which has helped the index in rising by 3.3% for the week and extending the monthly gains to 4.1%. Egypt also rose by 1.1% for the day, in line with the sentiments seen across the region. Kuwait closed on a positive note as it was up by 0.7% for the day, after remaining sluggish in the previous two sessions despite the positive sentiments in the region. Oman also closed higher by 0.2%, while Bahrain was down by 0.1% for the day. International Markets: US markets closed on a marginally positive note as DJIA and S&P were up by 0.5% and 0.2% respectively, while Nasdaq was down by 0.2% for the day. European markets closed on a positive note as FTSE, DAX and CAC were all up by 0.6%, 0.5% and 0.8% respectively for the day.
