EMBARGO : Only to be published or disseminated at 1200 hours, 9 September 2016 DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS MALAYSIA PRESS RELEASE Special Release 2 (For Building And Structural Works) August 2016 Peninsular Malaysia The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) by category of building in all regions showed increases in August 2016 compared to the previous month except in region A-Northern and F-Eastern which showed a decrease for certain categories of buildings. The unit price index of building materials that showed changes in August 2016 compared to the previous month are as follows:
  2. Sabah The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars) in Tawau recorded increases for some categories of buildings in August 2016. Meanwhile, the BCI for all categories of buildings in Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan showed no change compared to the previous month. The BCI (with steel bars) for all building categories in Kota Kinabalu showed an increase in August 2016. However, the BCI in Sandakan and Tawau showed a decrease for several building categories compared to the previous month. Changes in unit price index for building materials by region in Sabah are as follows: Sarawak The Building Material Cost Index (BCI) (without steel bars and with steel bars) in Kuching showed decreases for all categories of buildings in August 2016 as compared to the previous month. In contrast, the BCI in Sibu and Miri recorded increases in almost all categories of buildings compared to July 2016. Changes in unit price index for building materials by region in Sarawak are as follows:
