PERFORMANCE OF FOOD AND BEVERAGE SERVICES The census results showed that there were 167 ,490 establishments operated in food and beverage services compared to 130,570 establishments in 2010 with annual growth rate of 5.1 per cent. Value of gross output generated by this services was RM66.4 billion, increased by RM29.1 billion with annual growth 12.2 per cent. In line with value of gross output, the value added recorded an increase of 11.2 per cent annually posted at RM28.0 billion. Number of persons engaged in food and beverage services was 891,616 persons in 2015 compared to 645,743 persons in 2010 with annual growth of 6.7 per cent. This services recorded a total of 569,632 persons as paid full-time employees with percentage share of 63.9 per cent, while working proprietor's & unpaid family workers 254,364 persons (28.5%) and paid part-time employees 67,620 persons (7.6%). Meanwhile, the total salaries & wages paid in 2015 was RM9.7 billion compared to RM4.9 billion in 2010 with annual growth rate of 14.4 per cent. WOMEN-OWNED ESTABLISHMENTS In 2015, there were 56,346 women-owned establishments in food and beverage services which comprised 33.6 per cent of the total establishments with annual growth rate of 0.9 per cent.
