EMBARGO : Only to be published or disseminated at 1200 hours, Friday, 19 May 2017 DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS MALAYSIA PRESS RELEASE INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT POSITION, FIRST QUARTER 2017 Malaysia's net international investment position as at end of March 2017 recorded a net assets position of RM63.0 billion (Q4 2016: RM70.1 billion). Total financial assets position expanded to RM1,739.4 billion and total liabilities registered RM1,676.4 billion. In the first quarter of 2017, Direct Investment Abroad (DIA) stock recorded RM568.4 billion (Q4 2016: RM566.0 billion) and Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) stock in Malaysia registered a value of RM560.9 billion (Q4 2016: RM546.6 billion). Portfolio investment showed net liabilities position of RM287.9 billion from RM307.1 billion registered previous quarter. Meanwhile, the stock of other investment posted a net liabilities position of RM81.5 billion. The international reserves of Bank Negara Malaysia as at 31 March 2017 stood at RM422.1 billion (Q4 2016: RM423.9 billion).
