LISTING ON: 29/06/2017. Blue chips on Bursa Malaysia slipped lower Wednesday on profit-taking after the long Hari Raya break, dampened by weak buying momentum and the softer regional tone following the delayed US healthcare reform vote. The KLCI fell 8.22 points to close near the day's low at 1,771.23, off an early high of 1,788.87, as losers beat gainers 476 to 374 on cautious turnover totaling 1.39bn shares worth RM1.85bn. With technical indicators in short-term bearish mode, profit-taking pressure should persist during this brief trading week. On the index, a break below the 50-day moving average level, now at 1,770, could grease slide to better support from 1,761, the lower Bollinger band, and subsequently the 100-day ma at 1,745. Immediate upside hurdle will be the recent high of 1,796, and then the 1,800 psychological level. Bearish technical momentum and topping out chart pattern on Genting Bhd point to further correction potential, with break below the 100-day ma (RM9.48) to grease slide towards the 61.8%FR (RM9.04), with better support from the 50%FR (RM8.75) reinforced by the 200-day ma (RM8.70). Likewise, Genting Malaysia should extend correction on break below the 100-day ma (RM5.54) towards the 50%FR (RM5.40), with better supports from the 38.2%FR (RM5.17) and 200-day ma (RM5.07), while overhead resistance is seen from the 76.4%FR (RM5.92).
