Jan.2017 27% the Average decrease in Agricultural Producers’ Prices for Nov 2016 compared with Nov 2015 The Data issued by the Department of Statistics indicates a decrease in the Average Agricultural Producers’ Price Index for Nov 2016 by 26.7% compared with Nov 2015. (The Price Index reached 127.3 in Nov 2016 compared with 173.7 for Nov 2015).The most significant crops that contributed to this decrease (the total of their relative importance constituted 71.7%) were cabbage 72.1%, cauliflowers 56.1%, tomatoes 49.4%, hot peppers 46.6%, sweet pepper 38.9%, squash 35.6%, lemon 27.5%, eggplants 13.7%, potatoes 10.4%,string beans 8.5% and banana 7.3%. Meanwhile, there was an increase in the price index of radish, orange, cucumber, clementine and maize by 38.9%, 5.3%, 4.5%, 0.9% and 0.1% respectively with a relative importance of 28.3%. The report also shows that the Price Index has decreased by 22.2% in Nov 2016 as compared with Oct 2016( the price index reached 127.3 in Nov 2016 compared with 163.7 in Oct 2016) The most significant crops that contributed to this decrease (the total of their relative importance constituted 72.2%) were cauliflowers 52.3%, squash 38.6%, cabbage 31.3%, orange 22%, string beans 20.8%, tomato 13.4%, eggplants 13%, hot pepper 7.5%, cucumber 6.9%, maize 5.6% and lemon 2.9%,while, there was an increase in the price index of radish, sweet pepper, banana and clementine by 10.9%, 6.4%, 3.1% and 0.2% respectively with a relative importance of 27.8%. On the accumulative level, the Price Index of Agricultural Producers has decreased by 9.8% for the first eleven months of 2016 as compared with the same period of 2015, while the accumulative price index reached 142 for 2016 compared with 157.5 for the same period of 2015. The most significant crops whose Price Index Average contributed to this decrease were hot peppers by 32.6%, sweet pepper 23.6%, tomatoes
  2. 22 .9%, cauliflower 21.7%, eggplants 20.6%, string beans 9.1%, potato 2.2% and cucumber 0.1% .whose relative importance constituted 78.2%.Meanwhile, there was an increase in the price index of bananas and squash by 5.2% and 1.6% respectively with a relative importance of 21.8%. The figure below shows the trend of the price index of the Agricultural Producers for 2015 and 2016 (2007= base year).
