3. Export Price Index in Iran Khordad 1396 (1390 = 100) The Export Price Index (XPI) decreased 0.6 percent in Khordad 1396 following a 0.1 percent rise in Ordibehesht 1396. The index level of 239.7 was 14.3 percent higher than in Khordad 1395. During the first three months of the current Iranian year, the XPI rose 14.6 percent compared to the similar period in 1395. The XPI has advanced 4.4 percent over the past twelve months. In Khordad, the animal products group index went up 1.8 percent. Increases in the prices for shrimp and frozen fish were the major reasons for this advance, while the price for yogurt went down. The 5.3 percent increase in the vegetable products group index was mainly due to the rise in the price for pistachio. In this group, the price for raisin decreased. The price for hydrogenated oil advanced in this month, reflecting a 3.2 percent increase in the animal or vegetable fats and oils group index. The prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco group index fell 1.9 percent, largely due to the decrease in the price for ice cream. Mostly as a result of increasing in the prices for industrial oil, propane, cement, and butane, the mineral products group index moved up 1.5 percent. In this group, the decline in the price for copper concentrate was also considerable. The products of the chemical or allied industries group index went down 4.1 percent in this month. The mentioned decline was led by decreases in the prices  The index is computed on the Iranian Rial basis. In this month, the exchange rate of Dollar decreased 0.7 percent while the exchange rate of Euro increased 1.7 percent. 1
4. for methanol , urea fertilizer, molybdenum-oxide, and styrene. In the mentioned group, the price for ammonia increased. In Khordad, decreases in the prices for low density polyethylene, high density polyethylene, and polyvinyl chloride caused 4.4 percent drop in the plastics and articles thereof, rubber and articles thereof group index. The skins and leather and articles thereof group index fell 7.9 percent. Decreasing in the price for processed sheep skin was the major factor for this decline. During this month, the wood and articles of wood group index went down 3.7 percent. The group index for textiles and textile articles moved down 2.5 percent. The mentioned decrease was led by lower prices for machine-made carpet and hand-woven carpet. During this month, the footwear group index and the articles of stone group index went down 0.8 percent and 0.7 percent, respectively. The base metals and articles of base metal group index went down 1.2 percent in Khordad. The decline was driven by decreasing prices for ferromolybdenum, zinc ingot, lead ingot, cathode copper, and hot coil iron. The machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment group index fell 0.3 percent over this month. The vehicles and associated transport equipment group index rose 6.1 percent, which was attributed to the advance in the price for tractor. 2
