3. Export Price Index in Iran Farvardin 1395 (1390 = 100) The Export Price Index (XPI) increased 2.2 percent in Farvardin 1395 following a 4.5 percent decline in Esfand 1394. The index level of 211.4 was 13.3 percent lower than in Farvardin 1394. The XPI has fallen 16.1 percent over the past twelve months. In Farvardin, the animal products group index moved up 2.2 percent, which was attributed to the advances in the prices for shrimp and frozen fish. The 1.1 percent rise in the vegetable products group index was mainly due to the increases in the prices for pistachio, raisin and saffron. The animal or vegetable fats and oils group index turned up 47.2 percent. The prepared foodstuffs, beverages and tobacco group index advanced 0.6 percent over this month. During the mentioned month, the group index for mineral products rose 3.3 percent. Increases in the prices for propane, butane and industrial oils were the major reasons for this advance, while the price for paraffin wax went down. As a result of rising in the prices for urea fertilizer, methanol and dodecyl benzene, the products of the chemical or allied industries group index increased 3.2 percent. In this group, the decline in the price for ammonia was also considerable.  The index is computed on the Iranian Rial basis. In this month, the exchange rates of Dollar and Euro increased 0.7 percent and 2.8 percent, respectively. 1

Rises in the indexes for low density polyethylene , high density polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride and polyethylene terephthalate caused 4.2 percent increase in the plastics and articles thereof, rubber and articles thereof group index. During this month, decrease in the price for processed sheep skin led to the fall in the group index for skins and leather and articles thereof by 4.5 percent. In Farvardin, the group index for wood and articles of wood fell 4.1 percent. The textiles and textile articles group index and the footwear group index moved up 0.6 percent, each. The articles of stone group index reduced 1.2 percent. The group index for base metals and articles of base metal went down 1.9 percent, particularly due to the fall in the price for galvanized pipes. In contrast, the prices for zinc ingot, hot coil iron and steel profile increased. The group index for machinery and mechanical appliances, electrical equipment turned down 0.2 percent, while the group index for vehicles and associated transport equipment went up 1.4 percent over the mentioned month. 2
