  1. INTERPAC DANA SAFI (February 2018) The Fund seeks to maximize capital gain by investing principally in Shariah counters listed on Bursa Malaysia. It has a flexible asset allocation strategy and may invest in Shariah fixed income securities and money market instruments to meet its objective over the medium to long term period. MANAGER’S COMMENTS Regional currencies mostly ended lower month-on-month (MoM) versus the greenback, with the exception of the Japanese Yen, which strengthened 2.3% against the USD. The ringgit depreciated 0.5% Mom against the US dollar to RM3.923. Crude oil prices fell in February, with WTI crude and Brent crude falling 4.77% and 4.74% MoM to USD61.64 per barrel and USD65.78 per barrel respectively. Meanwhile, spot prices of crude palm oil rose 3.5% to RM2,547.00 per tonne. Malaysia’s Index of Industrial Production increased by 2.9% in December. The increase was driven by positive growth in the Manufacturing (+5.3%) and Electricity (+3.9%) sectors, while the Mining sector registered a decrease of -4.1%. The expansion in manufacturing output was due mainly to higher growth in major subsectors – Food, Beverages and Tobacco (17.0%), Petroleum, Chemical, Rubber and Plastic Products (3.6%), and Electrical and Electronics Products (4.1%). Meanwhile, mining sector output decreased 4.1% due to a decrease of 5.0% and 3.2% in the index for Crude Oil and Natural Gas respectively. In December, Malaysia’s export grew 4.7% YoY, underpinned by electrical and electronic products (+6.2%), liquefied natural gas (+4.8%), and crude petroleum (+6.9%). Meanwhile, imports grew 7.9%.
