2. 2nd Quarter 2016 GDP Per capita Glossary of Terms Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the sum of values added by the domestic producers to the product price, plus customs tariffs. It is alternatively defined as the sum of all outputs, less the sum of intermediate consumption plus the indirect taxes on products (taxes, subsidies, etc) not included in the values of outputs. National Income Statistics NATIONAL ACCOUNTS National income It is the GDP less the preliminary incomes paid to the unestimated units, plus the preliminary incomes received from the unestimated units. Population It is the total number of population by the end of every quarter. GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT PER CAPITA The individual's average share of the GDP after dividing the GDP at current prices by the number of people in the country Per capita income It is the mean income of the people which is calculated by dividing the GDP by the total population 2
3. 2nd Quarter 2016 GDP Per capita Description International organizations use a variety of benchmarks for measuring the economic development and the per capita GDP is one of these measurements . It measures the person's ability to get commodities and services. It shows the average income earned per person in Saudi Arabia every three months. Indicator Significance National Income Statistics NATIONAL ACCOUNTS The per capita GDP is important because it is a direct measure of living standards and social welfare of the citizens. It is used in making a comparison between two countries. The higher GDP per capita is indicator for a developing economy in general. Methodology It is calculated by taking a measure of the GDP at current prices and dividing it by the total population, as follows: Gross Domestic Product Per Capita = GDP at current prices Population It is calculated by taking a measure of the National Income at current prices and dividing it by the total population, as follows: Per capita income = National Income at Current Prices Population 3

5. 2nd Quarter 2016 GDP Per capita Summary The total value of the GDP per capita at current prices dropped 7 .5 percent in the second quarter of 2016 down to SAR 18,834 from SAR 20,358 in 2015. The total value of the National Income Per Capita at current prices dropped 7.5 percent too in the second quarter of 2016 down to SAR 19,350 from SAR National Income Statistics NATIONAL ACCOUNTS 20,923 in 2015. 5
