Definition of "Iqta al-tamlik"
A piece of land donated by the state on a permanent basis without any liability for tax. Such an iqta‘ is treated as private property of the person to whom it is donated. The land donated could be dead land (mawat), arable land or land containing minerals (ma‘adin).
