- MENA Morning Report Wednesday , June 14, 2017 Overview Regional Markets: MENA markets ended on a positive note as investors are selective buyers into the markets after the downward pressure witnessed in the past few sessions. Further, oil prices also seem to be stabilizing at the current levels, which is helping in supporting the market sentiments. For the regional markets, four indexes ended in green, while three were unchanged and one ended in red for the day. UAE markets were the best performers as Dubai and Abu Dhabi closed up by 0.4% and 0.6% for the day. Both Dubai and Abu Dhabi have witnessed buying interest during the week and the month as they have appreciated by 3.1% and 2.5% in June so far. The buying interest seems to be on the back of valuations which seems to be attractive as Dubai has underperformed its regional peers in the past one year. Qatar closed on a negative note as it was down by 0.4% for the day after rising by 0.8% on the previous day. However, the overall trend continues to remain negative for the index as investors prefer to exit their positions due to the ongoing geopolitical rifts. Saudi Arabia closed on a flat note for the day after rising by 0.2% on the previous day. Kuwait also closed flat for the day, continuing its range bound movement during the week. Egypt closed higher by 0.3% for the day, which was in line with the sentiments seen across the region. Bahrain was up by 0.4%, while Oman was flat for the day. International Markets: US markets closed in green as Dow, Nasdaq and S&P were all up by 0.4%, 0.7% and 0.5% respectively. European markets closed on a slightly positive note as FTSE was down by 0.2%, while DAX and CAC were up by 0.6% and 0.4% respectively. At the time of writing of this report, Asian markets have opened on a mixed note as Hang Seng and Shanghai are down by 0.2% and 0.5% respectively, while Nikkei is up by 0.1%.
