Shura

Definition of "Shura"

Shura is the Islamic principle of mutual consultation before arriving at decision.

As the following translation notes, the Qur'an prescribes the process of Shura:

"Those who hearken to their Lord, and establish prayer; and who (conduct) their affairs by mutual consultation; who spend out of what We bestow on them ... (al-Shura 42: 38)."
