Definition of "Nizam al-misahah"
Relating to administration of land revenue, the system of levying kharaj on the basis of area cultivated irrespective of the produce. This system remained in vogue from the times of the first four caliphs to the times of the ‘Abbasid caliph Mahdi (AD 775–785) who changed it to nizam al-muqasamah, that is the system of tax on the basis of produce.
