The Maqasid al-Shariah Influences Sustainable and Responsible Investing: Shariah Investing Dialogue 2021

A virtual session from the Shariah Investing Dialogue 2021 was held on the 24th of March 2021, with the theme centered around Sustainable and Responsible Investing (SRI) encapsulating the Maqasid al-Shariah. The discussion looked at the commonalities between SRI investing and the Maqasid al-Shariah, with ideas on meeting the growing demand for Shariah-compliant investment products in such a way so as to provide investment avenues for all types of investors. From a Malaysian perspective, focus remained on the role of the Islamic financial system in supporting Shariah-compliant SRI as a much-needed catalyst for economic growth.
