Malaysian Government’s Zakat Collections Increase despite COVID-19 Pandemic

Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) has stated that the Government of Malaysia will utilize all channels to ensure that Zakat collections and distribution will be sufficient to help the needy weather the economic impact of COVID-19, once the moratorium on bank loans expires at the end of September 2020.

Al-Bakri was speaking at an event which saw 11 companies submit Zakat amounting to MYR 12.9 million to the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council’s Zakat Collection Centre (PPZ-MAIWP) in Putrajaya earlier this week.
