Dr Hussein Hamid Hassan
Dr Hussein Hamid Hassan (July 25, 1932 โ August 19, 2020) was one of the leading figures in Shariah. Dr Hassan had a career spanning over 50 years where he has advised numerous banks, regulators, and institutions. He sat on Advisory Boards of Accounting and Auditing Organisation for Islamic Institutions (AAOIFI), Dubai Islamic Bank (United Arab Emirates and Pakistan), Safwa Islamic Bank, Al Salam Bank, Ajman Bank, Deutsche Bank Malaysia, Sohar Islamic Bank, RAKBANK (National Bank of Ras Al-Khaimah), Dubai Islamic Insurance & Reinsurance, Methaq Takaful Insurance, Union National Bank, Emirates NBD Bank, IsDB - Islamic Development Bank, Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD), Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC), Dubai Financial Market, and Emirates NBD Asset Management. Dr Hassan has authored over 20 books, over 400 articles, and supervised the translation of the Quran into Russian. He also supervised the translation of over 200 Islamic books into various languages. Dr Hassan had been a huge part in establishing various Islamic universities and faculties across the world including Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Libya, and Kazakhstan.
Qualifications
LLB from Al-Azhar University, Master's Degree in Comparative Law from the International Institute of Comparative Law (New York), Master's Degree in Law and Economics from the Cairo University, and PhD in Islamic Studies (1965) from Al-Azhar University.
