- July 18 , 2022 KCCI - eBulletin Eyeing $ 4Bn from friendly countries this month Pakistan is likely to get $ 4Bn from friendly countries this month to bridge a gap in foreign reserves highlighted by the IMF. The IMF had previously reached a staff-level agreement for a disbursement of $ 1.18Bn. The board is also considering adding $ 1Bn to a $ 6Bn program agreed in 2019. Finance Minister expects $ 3.5Bn from ADB, $ 2.5Bn from World Bank and $400-500Mn from AIIB in FY23. Dawn-Sun. This issue, among many others, was raised by Chairman, China Port Holding Company Limited at a meeting of Federal Steering Committee on Gwadar Initiatives held on 6th Jul’22 under the chairmanship of PM Shehbaz Sharif. Indonesia removes palm oil export levy until Aug 31 Indonesia has scrapped its export levy for all palm oil products until 31st Aug’22 in a fresh attempt to boost exports and ease high inventories. The decision by the world’s biggest palm oil exporter could further depress prices, which have fallen by about 50% since Apr’22 to their lowest in over a year. Dawn-Sun. Utilities change electricity tariff structure from July The electricity providers have changed the electricity tariff structure in line with the rules and regulations of the federal govt. as well as Nepra, that would be effective from Jul’22 and applicable nationwide, including the service territory of the Karachi-based utility, the non-extension of relief for zero-rated industries and relief on peak-hour electricity consumption for industrial consumers. Declaring the FBR’s representation as illegal, President Arif Alvi has declared that there is no provision under the Federal Ombudsmen Institutional Reforms Act, 2013, for filing a review against orders of the president of Pakistan passed on any representations. EDB’s policy document on solar panels this month The Engineering Development Board (EDB) is all set to submit its policy document on solar panels and allied equipment manufacturing to the govt. by the end of Jul’22. NTDC acquires land for construction of grid station in Chakwal National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) has acquired 758 Canal and 3 Marla land for the construction of 500 kV grid station Chakwal, for helping in the development of industries. Construction of Two 500 kV transmission lines from Ghazi Brotha - Gatti and Gakkar – Rawat will also be part of this project. Total estimated cost of the project is PKR 8926.39Mn including 43.76Mn Euros promised by KfW, German bank. BR. PIA resumes Beijing-Islamabad flights PIA resumed its passenger flights on Beijing-Islamabad route after a gap of nearly seven months when PK-855 took off from Capital International Airport for Islamabad on 17th Jul’22. PIA had operated its last flight between Beijing-Islamabad on 19th Dec’21. BR. Weak economic growth likely in 2022: survey Weak growth looks the most likely outcome for the rest of 2022, according to the Q2 Global Economic Conditions Survey (GECS) from ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) and IMA (Institute of Management Accountants).
