  1. MENA Morning Report Monday , January 30, 2017 Overview Regional Markets: MENA markets closed the trading session on a positive note as five out of the eight indexes closed in the green, while three ended down. Investors continue to focus on individual markets, especially with positive momentum and potential for catching up with other regional markets after a slow start to 2017. Saudi Arabia closed on a positive note as it was up by 0.7% for the day, adding to 3.8% of gains recorded in the previous week. The index has almost recovered the losses incurred during the first two weeks of 2017 as the market is playing out the catch up game and expected to end the month of January up , in line with the trend seen in other regional markets. Kuwait continues its bull run as the index was up by 1.3% for the day, adding to the gains of 6.5% in the previous week and extending the annual gains to around 21%. Egypt was another index that closed up by 0.5% for the day as investors are hopeful about additional reform measures being introduced to stimulate economic activity. UAE markets closed on a negative note as Dubai and Abu Dhabi were both down by 1.0% and 0.8% respectively for the day. Both indexes witnessed strong selling pressure in speculative stocks, especially small cap, which have rallied in the past couple of months. Qatar was another index to remain under pressure as it was down by 1.0% for the day, dragged lower by banking sector stocks. Bahrain and Oman closed up by 0.2% each for the day.
