Definition of "Shartain fi bai‘"

Two conditions in a contract of sale. Such a sale is affected when a vendor says, for example: ‘I sell cloth for one dollar in cash and for two dollars on credit’. It may be presumed that the vendor made two conditions not only on price but on other aspects as well. This type of contract was banned by the Prophet.
