Definition of "Mudd shari‘"

The mudd prevalent in the days of the Prophet Muhammad. The jurists of later days used it to translate the equivalent of their own respective times into the measure of the Prophet’s time to determine nisab of zakah, diyah, fitrah and other religious levies.
