Lit: Replacement; substitution. Tech: Monetary or non-monetary payment to compensate for a harm or injury caused to the payee. Examples are: usurping, destroying someone’s property or causing a physical injury. The person at fault is required to compensate the injured party for the damage thus caused. The amount of compensation depends on the nature of harm or injury and sometimes would involve adjudication.
