Nizam al-muqasamah

Definition of "Nizam al-muqasamah"

Relating to administration of land revenue, the system of levying kharaj on the basis of the produce of land. This was adopted by the ‘Abbasid caliph Mahdi (AD 775–785). The system of land revenue on ‘ushri lands was also that of muqasamah.
